- General research projects: The application period is in November–December each year. Exact dates will be announced by the NSTC.
- New personnel research projects: Projects led by a domestic/international teacher or researcher who has fewer than five years of teaching/research experience or who has graduated with a doctoral degree in the past five years are eligible. Applications for such projects should be made upon the initial appointment date or within three years of the conferral of the doctoral degree and will be reviewed on an ad hoc basis. Limit one project per person.

- Applicants shall submit the application by 3 p.m. six weeks prior to the first day of the conference. The University will compile submitted applications and forward them to the NSTC by 5 p.m. the same day.
- The subsidy is limited to one person per paper (whether presented orally or in the form of a poster). The same provisions apply to directors/supervisors of major international academic associations or editors of internationally renowned scholarly journals whose attendance is required at a conference.
- The subsidy covers flights, conference registration, daily allowance, processing fees, and insurance premiums.
- Only one subsidy is allowed per individual per fiscal year. Principal investigators of NSTC projects who already have an “international scholarly conference” account are ineligible to receive further subsidies.
- Persons with a severe disability (supporting documents required) who must be accompanied by an aid in order to attend a scholarly conference may receive an additional subsidy to cover the aid’s travel expenses.
- Conferences held in mainland China must be organized by an international academic organization (or chiefly organized by an international academic organization and co-organized by mainland China).
- Recipients should file for reimbursement within one month of their return to Taiwan, and a conference report and account settlement form must be submitted to the NSTC’s system.

- “New faculty members” refers to full-time faculty members hired by the University within the past year. With justifiable cause, those who are unable to apply within their first year at the University may do so in their second year.

- Applicants must submit their application by the deadline closest to (prior to) their departure (by the first day of either March, June, September, or December each year).
- Only keynote speakers, invited speakers, or those performing other important tasks or presenting a paper at a conference are eligible to apply. In principle, eligible papers must be published under the auspices of NCHU and be primarily about research activities conducted at the University.
- The subsidy covers flights and conference registration and is limited to the following amounts: NT$45,000 for conferences in Europe, Africa, or the Americas; NT$30,000 in Oceania, and NT$20,000 in Asia.
- Each person may receive one subsidy per fiscal year.
- Attendees of gender studies conferences and those serving in crucial roles at a conference may be granted an exemption from the preceding limitation. However, only airfare will be subsidized from the second conference onwards.
- Please first write off any remaining balance of a project’s international travel expense account or apply for external funding before applying with the University.
- Conferences held in Taiwan, Hong Kong, or mainland China by non-international organizations are ineligible.

- Only conferences held by international organization outside of Taiwan are eligible. International conferences held by organizations based in mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau are ineligible.

- The subsidy is limited to one person per paper (whether presented orally or in the form of a poster).
- The subsidy covers flights and conference registration.n- Subsidies must only be used for their designated purposes. Except in the event of revocation, requests for changes must be made via the online system prior to the conference and will only become effective upon approval by the NSTC.
- Conferences held in mainland China must be organized by an international academic organization (or chiefly organized by an international academic organization and co-organized by mainland China).
- Each person may receive one subsidy per fiscal year. Those who have already received a subsidy may not apply for any other further international conference subsidies as a graduate student or otherwise in the same academic year.
- Subsidy recipients must submit a conference report and account settlement form to the NSTC’s system within 15 days of the conference’s conclusion in order to file for reimbursement.

Reimbursements from the University are processed online. Users may log onto the online system through a web browser to handle matters related to procurement requests, reimbursement, procurement management, and budget inquiries. See below for more details:n1. Create an account: Log into the NCHU EZ-Come System > Online procurement requests > Check the functions you wish to enable > Automatic processing by the system > Procurement account created by the Office of Accounting.n2. Request a project number: You must request a project number in order to use any budget. All budget accounts are reserved for their intended use only and are identified by an internal project number. For example, NSTC project numbers are in the format of “111BXXXX”. Please have your project number ready when contacting the Office of Accounting in order to be referred to the competent case officer.n3. Procurement of property and reimbursement for travel expenses: NCHU Homepage > Office of Accounting website > Click on the application link (http://acc93.nchu.edu.tw/apswis_q/login_l_q.asp or http://acc95.nchu.edu.tw/apswis_q/login_l_q.asp ,for Academy of Circular Economy http://aceacc.nchu.edu.tw/APSWIS_Q/Login_L_Q.asp) > Log into the system with your credentials (your default password will be notified via email).n4. Print out the expenditure receipts form:n1) Prepare the form in the system, print it out, and attach invoices or receipts (original copies only) to the form.n2) The Division of Property Operation Management, General Affairs Office will be notified of procurements property and non-consumables. The NCHU Library will be notified of procurements of books. The Computer and Information Network Center will be notified of procurements of computer soft- and hardware. The Division of Procurement, General Affairs Office will be notified of centralized procurement cases.n3) Reimbursements with a value of NT$150,000 or less should be signed off on by the unit director, processed by the aforementioned units, and submitted to the Office of Accounting for approval. Cases with a value of over NT$150,000 must be approved by either the NCHU President or an authorized proxy.n5. For researchers, it is always crucial to make sure that all their academic research work and outcomes are properly connected. ORCID is the key to solving authorship identification issues and ensuring that all of a researcher’s works are connected to themselves.
1. Pursuant to Article 2 of the University’s Regulations Governing the Management and Utilization of Research and Development Outcomes, the intellectual property rights of research and development (R&D) outcomes produced by faculty members and students using NCHU resources belong solely to the University unless otherwise stipulated in a separate contract or other applicable regulations. Faculty members who wish to apply for a patent must do so through the Division of Patent and Technology Transfer in accordance with internal regulations.nn2. Patent fees may be shared in different percentages with different royalty distribution ratios:n

The University only provides funding for invention patents, the guidelines for which are as follows:nnThe University may subsidize up to three R.O.C. patent applications per researcher per year (Plan I).nnThose who meet both of the following requirements are eligible for subsidies for patent applications in foreign territories:nn1) R&D outcomes represented by the researcher have undergone a technology transfer by the University with a value of NT$1 million or more.nn2) The patent application has been reviewed by two or more experts in writing and has been approved by the Patent and Technology Transfer Promotion Committee.nnThe cost sharing scheme will be the same for both domestic and foreign applications for the same patent.
1. Assignment of technology transfer royalties:nnRoyalty distribution shall be processed in accordance with Article 7 of NCHU’s Regulations Governing the Management and Utilization of Research and Development Outcomes.nnUnless otherwise stipulated in a separate contract or other applicable regulations, royalties from the management, maintenance, utilization, and promotion of intellectual property rights derived from NCHU R&D outcomes will be distributed in the following manner after the necessary deductions are withheld in accordance with the Government Scientific and Technological Research and Development Results Ownership and Utilization Regulations:nnNecessary costs fully borne by researchers or a third party with no contribution by the University (Article 5, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 1): Researcher 80%–NCHU 20%.nnNecessary costs partially borne by the University (Article 5, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 3): Researcher 40%–NCHU 60%.nnIf a patent is licensed to multiple targets through non-exclusive licenses, royalties for the first of such licenses will be distributed in accordance with the preceding two subparagraphs. The University’s distribution percentage will be reduced by 10% for each subsequent license until it reaches 20%, whereas the researcher’s distribution percentage will increase by 10% for each subsequent license until it reaches 80%.nnLiquidated damages and compensation obtained by the University for its R&D outcomes due to a breach of contract or infringement will be distributed in the following ratio after deducting expenses paid to legal counsel and professional consultants: NCHU 100%.nnUnless otherwise stipulated in a separate contract or other applicable regulations, royalty distribution ratios will remain the same even in the event of a researcher’s departure from the University due to separation, retirement, or death. If a researcher is unable to claim royalty payments themselves, their legal heir or a beneficiary designated in their will may do so on their behalf.nn2. Methods of R&D results publication and release by faculty members:nFaculty members with R&D outcomes (patents and technical know-how) may submit an R&D Outcome Survey Form to the Division for announcement and promotion through various channels with the ultimate goal of finding opportunities for potential applications, transactions, collaborations, and matchmaking.
Currently enrolled NCHU students who have had academic papers published under the auspices of the University are eligible.nnApplicants must be the first or corresponding author of the thesis.The thesis must be a full academic journal article published in SCIE (Science Citation Index Expanded), SSCI (Social Sciences Citation Index), or A&HCI (Art & Humanities Citation Index).nnPlease submit a photocopy of the published paper as it appears in the journal (or a copy of the final draft along with the proof of acceptance/publication), obtain the signature of your advisor, and submit the application to the head of your department, the dean of your college, and the Chief of the Student Life Division for approval.
1. Target:nn1) Full-time faculty members and research fellows must complete six hours of academic ethics training during their term of employment. Newly appointed personnel must complete training within one year of reporting for duty.nn2) Part-time faculty members and full- and part-time research fellows must provide proof of at least six hours of training at the time of their appointment.nn3) Personnel not described above who are part of an NCHU research project must provide proof of at least six hours of training at the time of their appointment or the commencement of the project.nn2. Recognized academic ethics training courses:nn1) Courses offered by the Center for Taiwan Academic Research Ethics Educationnn2) Academic research ethics courses offered by the Universitynn3) Academic research ethics courses offered by regional learning resource centersnn4) Epigeum–Research Integrity and CITI Program coursesnn5) Other academic research ethics courses approved by the UniversitynnFor items 2) to 5) above, a certificate of completion issued by the organizing institution is required.
1. In principle, each full-time faculty member of the University may receive the grant up to three times in their first 10 years of employment.nn2. This grant is intended only for the procurement of instruments, books, and electronic resources. faculty member must first attempt to secure funding from external sources (such as the Ministry of Education, National Science and Technology Council, Council of Agriculture, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Economic Affairs) before they apply for this grant.nn3. In principle, faculty member that have requested full funding from external agencies but are subsequently granted only partial funding will be given priority. The grant amount may not exceed NT$500,000 or the amount of funding provided by the external agency, whichever is smaller.

Pursuant to the NCHU Directives for the Management of Revenues and Expenditures from Industry-Academia Collaboration Projects, the purpose of this grant is to enhance the quality of research and the University’s general development.nn2. The following units and individuals are eligible for the grant:nn1) NCHU units organizing an international or national scholarly conferencenn2) Organizers of scholarly activities that are attended by NCHU faculty members and students and/or individuals not affiliated with the Universitynn3) International experts/scholars who are engaged in academic research at the Universitynn4) NCHU faculty members whose papers are accepted by a scholarly journalnn5) NCHU faculty members and students who are going abroad to present research findings, give lectures, or participate in academic exchangesnn6) Organizers of training workshops for faculty members and students from NCHU and foreign academic institutions

Eligibility: NCHU faculty members who have had their writings (including papers in SCIE-/SSCI-/A&HCI-indexed journals and academic books and book chapters) officially published or cited in the previous calendar year are eligible to apply.nn2. Application deadline: Around March each year; exact dates to be announced by the Office of Research and Development.nn3. Application method: Please fill out the online application form on the NCHU R&D Portal, print out the application form, have it signed by your supervisor, and submit it to the Academic Development Division, Office of Research and Development.nn4. Results will be announced following a review process in June.
1. Introduction: To access the R&D portal, sign in with your credentials via the NCHU Single Sign-On Service.nn1) The NCHU R&D portal is designed to provide a comprehensive record of faculty members’ research, teaching, and service achievements and to facilitate the faculty evaluation process by enabling real-time access to detailed faculty profiles.nn2) The portal is intended to integrate faculty members’ academic and research achievements with the University’s academic development plans.nn3) Faculty members can export their research portfolio directly from the portal.nn4) Academic units can export accurate performance statistics from the portal if their faculty profiles are complete.nn5) Applications for academic research performance incentives and grants must be submitted through the portal.nn2. First-time users of the portal are required to select their field of expertise on the “profile maintenance” page before being allowed access to the portal.nn3. We recommend using Google Chrome to access the portal. Navigate to the NCHU homepage, click or tap on “Single Sign On” from the menu bar, log in with your credentials, and select “R&D Portal.”
Pursuant to the applicable regulations, employees with outstanding service performance may be awarded a service medal at the time of their retirement, separation, resignation, or death.
Faculty members may borrow designated research books procured under a publicly funded research project until the conclusion of the project, and they may extend the loan period beyond the project expiry date if necessary. Designated research books shall be returned to the Library’s collection and made available to the general public upon conclusion of the project or expiry of the loan.
