Digital Learning Resources Platform

The NCHU Library built the Digital Learning Resources Platform to satisfy readers’ desire to learn no matter the time or place. The Platform contains library guides, library resource utilization courses, database query instructions, lectures, and computer software courses.

NCHU Library: Open Access (OA) Journals

Open access (OA) means free access to information and unrestricted use of academic resources on the Internet.nnYou can use a variety of tools to check whether a journal is open access or is actually a predatory journal before submitting your paper.nnThe Library provides information on publishing fee discounts for OA journals. Please read the relevant instructions if you are interested.

NCHU Press: Publication Regulations and Requests

Established as an agricultural school, National Chung Hsing University not only has contributed significantly to the development of Taiwan’s agriculture but also excels on multiple academic fronts. The University’s achievements in biological, agricultural resources, scientific, engineering, humanities, and social sciences research are hard to ignore. In 2012, the NCHU Library founded the NCHU Press, whose purpose is to encourage faculty members and students to share their outstanding teaching and research achievements with the world through academic publishing. The NCHU Press’ vision is to strive for excellence in scholarly publishing and the promotion of knowledge by releasing quality academic works, with the ultimate goal of becoming one of the world’s leading university presses.

Directives for the Management of the Reading Room

The 160-seat Reading room is located on B1F and is available to NCHU faculty, staff, and students from 8 a.m. (9 a.m. on weekends and holidays) to midnight. Each seat is equipped with a reading lamp, USB port, and power outlets. Seats are divided into three zones. Zone A seats are provided on a first-come-first-serve basis. Zone C is the quiet area, and the use of notebook computers is prohibited in this area. Readers may make reservations through the Space Booking System up to 14 days in advance. Seats may be reserved for up to 8 hours at a time.

To foster a learning environment that encourages proactive learning and creativity, the Library’s Learning Commons provides a multi-functional learning space for faculty, staff, and students to engage in self-regulated learning, schoolwork discussion and consultation, academic counseling, and other activities.

Digital Maker Studio

The NCHU Library Digital Maker Studio provides an environment that fosters innovation, proactive learning, self-exploration, and creative thinking in all subject areas. It provides access to several modern digital technologies, including 3D scanners, LCD & FDM 3D printers, heat press machines, laser cutters, and specialty software to help students turn creative ideas into reality, hone their problem-solving skills, and practice what they learn in class through hands-on experience.
