Opening a Designated Direct Deposit Account–International Faculty Members

When reporting for work, International faculty members (including postdoctoral research fellows) are required to open an account with either Chunghwa Post Co., Ltd. or Bank SinoPac and provide their account information to the Cashier Division.nnTo open an account, please have the following documents ready:nn1. Alien residence certificate or passportnn2. Letter of appointmentnn3. Personal sealnnPlease provide the Cashier Division with your account information after opening the account.

NCHU Single Sign-on (SSO)

The University offers single sign-on (SSO) service to allow for easy access to important online resources without requiring separate authentication. Users only need to remember one set of login credentials to access all online services.

Art Center

The NCHU Art Center organizes art exhibitions and cultural exchanges, assists in the beautification of the campus, and works to improve faculty and students’ appreciation of art and strengthen their aesthetic education. The Center invites well-known local and international artists to hold exhibitions at the University after recommendation and approval by a consulting and review committee composed of experts and scholars. Each exhibition usually lasts about a month, and an average of eight art exhibitions are planned every year. The Center also organizes activities, international exchanges, lectures, presentations, symposiums, workshops, and other art and cultural events in conjunction with university campaigns. Additionally, the Center has a well-equipped curation room with a collection of over 1500 artworks, and publishes collection catalogues as a medium to promote cultural exchange.

Waste Disposal and Recycling

General waste disposal: General waste (including kitchen waste) is collected by campus garbage trucks at fixed locations between 8:20–10:35 a.m. every business day.nn* Note: Please store general waste in transparent plastic bags only.nnRecycling: Recyclable materials are collected by recycling trucks at fixed locations between 8:20–10:35 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays.nnOn Tuesday: Paper lunch boxes and non-paper materials (including iron cans, aluminum cans, plastic bottles, plastic containers, and recyclable plastic products)nnOn Friday: Paper lunch boxes and other paper materialsnn*Paper lunch boxes must be properly cleaned before disposal to ensure that no leftovers remain.

Patent Applications

1. Pursuant to Article 2 of the University’s Regulations Governing the Management and Utilization of Research and Development Outcomes, the intellectual property rights of research and development (R&D) outcomes produced by faculty members and students using NCHU resources belong solely to the University unless otherwise stipulated in a separate contract or other applicable regulations. Faculty members who wish to apply for a patent must do so through the Division of Patent and Technology Transfer in accordance with internal regulations.nn2. Patent fees may be shared in different percentages with different royalty distribution ratios:n

The University only provides funding for invention patents, the guidelines for which are as follows:nnThe University may subsidize up to three R.O.C. patent applications per researcher per year (Plan I).nnThose who meet both of the following requirements are eligible for subsidies for patent applications in foreign territories:nn1) R&D outcomes represented by the researcher have undergone a technology transfer by the University with a value of NT$1 million or more.nn2) The patent application has been reviewed by two or more experts in writing and has been approved by the Patent and Technology Transfer Promotion Committee.nnThe cost sharing scheme will be the same for both domestic and foreign applications for the same patent.

Technology Transfers

1. Assignment of technology transfer royalties:nnRoyalty distribution shall be processed in accordance with Article 7 of NCHU’s Regulations Governing the Management and Utilization of Research and Development Outcomes.nnUnless otherwise stipulated in a separate contract or other applicable regulations, royalties from the management, maintenance, utilization, and promotion of intellectual property rights derived from NCHU R&D outcomes will be distributed in the following manner after the necessary deductions are withheld in accordance with the Government Scientific and Technological Research and Development Results Ownership and Utilization Regulations:nnNecessary costs fully borne by researchers or a third party with no contribution by the University (Article 5, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 1): Researcher 80%–NCHU 20%.nnNecessary costs partially borne by the University (Article 5, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 3): Researcher 40%–NCHU 60%.nnIf a patent is licensed to multiple targets through non-exclusive licenses, royalties for the first of such licenses will be distributed in accordance with the preceding two subparagraphs. The University’s distribution percentage will be reduced by 10% for each subsequent license until it reaches 20%, whereas the researcher’s distribution percentage will increase by 10% for each subsequent license until it reaches 80%.nnLiquidated damages and compensation obtained by the University for its R&D outcomes due to a breach of contract or infringement will be distributed in the following ratio after deducting expenses paid to legal counsel and professional consultants: NCHU 100%.nnUnless otherwise stipulated in a separate contract or other applicable regulations, royalty distribution ratios will remain the same even in the event of a researcher’s departure from the University due to separation, retirement, or death. If a researcher is unable to claim royalty payments themselves, their legal heir or a beneficiary designated in their will may do so on their behalf.nn2. Methods of R&D results publication and release by faculty members:nFaculty members with R&D outcomes (patents and technical know-how) may submit an R&D Outcome Survey Form to the Division for announcement and promotion through various channels with the ultimate goal of finding opportunities for potential applications, transactions, collaborations, and matchmaking.

Email accounts issued to NCHU students and faculty members may only be used for official or academic research purposes.

Wireless Internet (Wi-Fi)

Wireless Internet may be accessed via an authentication webpage. NCHU faculty members and students can select the “NCHU” network and enter their email address and password to get connected.

Campus Network

Devices must be assigned a fixed IP address to access the campus network.nnPlease contact the network administrator at your department office to request an IP address, and please abide by the Campus Network Usage Guidelines.
