Student Counseling

I. Service Description
International students who experience difficulties related to daily life adjustment, emotional concerns, intimate relationships, or interpersonal relationships during their studies are welcome to apply for counseling services through our online system. After submitting an application, a licensed counselor will be assigned to provide regular counseling sessions.
II. Application Procedure
1. Appointment Method
Our center operates on a by-appointment-only basis. Please login to “NCHU single sign-on system” → “All Application Entry” → “Psychological Counseling system” to apply for counseling services.
※Note: If you are unable to make an appointment through the online system, you may contact us by phone during office hours or visit the Counseling Center in person for assistance.
2. Appointment Notification
After we match you with an appropriate counselor, you will be notified of your appointment time via SMS and email. Thank you for your patience while we complete the arrangement.
3. Number of Sessions
Each student may apply for one counseling round per semester.
Each round consists of six sessions, with each session lasting 50 minutes.
4. Service Fee
All counseling services provided by the Counseling Center are free of charge for enrolled students of this university.
5. Confidentiality Policy
The Counseling Center and its professional counselors are responsible for protecting your privacy and will not disclose your personal information without your consent.
Exceptions apply in situations involving immediate danger to yourself or others, or when disclosure is required by law.
6. Safety Regulations
To ensure the safety of both students and counselors, dangerous items are strictly prohibited in counseling spaces.

Uniform Identification Number

Upon their arrival in Taiwan, non-resident aliens who wish to open a bank account, file for (income) taxes, or apply for a driver’s license must apply for a “unified identification number for foreign nationals” with the National Immigration Agency of the Ministry of the Interior by filling out the Basic Information Form for the Application of a R.O.C. Unified Identification Number.

Course selection notices

A course selection notice shall be published each semester with instructions for online preliminary course selection, the online course add/drop period, course selection with instructor’s authorization, and the course withdrawal deadline, including course selection requirements, other important notices, and official contact information (including telephone extensions) for questions and inquiries.

General education (undergraduate programs)

General Education—Information Literacy: Computer Programming and its Applications (undergraduate programs)

Beginning in Academic Year 2019–20, Information Literacy: Computer Programming and its Applications is now a compulsory general education course for all students except international students and continuing education undergraduate students. Please visit the General Education webpage for a list of departments that are exempt from the course. All freshmen at the University will automatically be pre-enrolled in the course. The course is conducted in two sessions, with the first taking place in the first eight weeks of the semester and the second in the last eight weeks.

Sexual harassment complaints

NCHU students who encounter sexual molestation, harassment, or bullying on campus may file a complaint with the University or request legal consultation and counseling.

An Introduction to NCHU

When it was first established in 1919, National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) only had one department—the Department of Agroforestry. Since that time, it has become one of Taiwan’s most long-standing comprehensive research universities and the third largest national university on the island, with 12 colleges spanning the fields of the humanities and social sciences, science and technology, agriculture and medicine. Today, NCHU is continuing to build on its rich history as an educational institution by developing programs that equip students with a strong competitive advantage, with the ultimate goal of becoming a world-class comprehensive research university with far-reaching influence.

History of NCHU

Founded in 1919 as the Government-General of Taiwan’s Advanced Academy of Agronomy and Forestry, NCHU attained its present form in 1971 following numerous school mergers and name changes. As of 2022, the University has 12 colleges of Liberal Arts, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Management, Law and Politics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Medicine, Academy of Circular Economy and Innovation and Industry Liaison. With more than a century of history, NCHU is one of the most long-standing higher education institutions in Taiwan.
