* There are six types of student award: honorary merit, minor merit, major merit, certificate of appreciation, medal, and prize money.
* There are seven types of student penalty: written warning, censure, minor demerit, major demerit, probation, expulsion, and revocation of academic standing.
* Course instructors and other relevant units may recommend a student award or penalty to the NCHU President for approval, but must cite the applicable regulations for said award/penalty and must do so in accordance with the applicable procedures.
* The procedures for the issuance of student awards and penalties are as follows:
1. Honorary/minor merits, censures, and minor demerits may be recommended by course instructors and other relevant units by providing the necessary supporting documents.
2. Major merits (or greater awards) and major demerits (or more severe penalties) require review and passage by the Student Reward and Disciplinary Committee, approval by the NCHU President, and promulgation by the University.
3. When reviewing major awards and penalties, the Student Reward and Disciplinary Committee will request the involved academic units, directors, academic advisors, and other related personnel to attend its meeting. The student(s) in question must also be provided with an opportunity to make a statement or counterargument.
4. The official document for each student award and penalty must clearly indicate the award/penalty being issued, the associated facts, the reason for the award/penalty, and the method, deadline, and competent authority for appeals.
5. Students’ parents or legal guardians will be notified in the event of a major merit or demerit.
* Students’ award and penalty records may not be cleared so long as they remain enrolled. However, first time offenders who are issued a minor demerit (or less severe penalty) may apply to have the penalty erased from their record. The guidelines for doing so are to be formulated separately.
* Award and penalty records remain in effect for students who apply to reinstate their student status after a temporary suspension of studies.

Award (1)

Currently enrolled NCHU students who have had academic papers published under the auspices of the University are eligible.

Applicants must be the first or corresponding author of the thesis.The thesis must be a full academic journal article published in SCIE (Science Citation Index Expanded), SSCI (Social Sciences Citation Index), or A&HCI (Art & Humanities Citation Index).

Please submit a photocopy of the published paper as it appears in the journal (or a copy of the final draft along with the proof of acceptance/publication), obtain the signature of your advisor, and submit the application to the head of your department, the dean of your college, and the Chief of the Student Life Division for approval.

Emergency Relief Funds (1)

The Student Life Division reviews student eligibility and provides each department with Academic Excellence Award Certificates to be handed out to the recipients. No application is required.Undergraduate students with outstanding academic performance who make the List will be presented a certificate and an award of NT$3,000.One out of every 20 students in a class may be included on the List. In the event of a tie for the last eligible place, both (or all) students may be included.

Part-time administrative assistants are considered labor-type (and not learning-type) assistants. Students’ eligibility to serve as part-time administrative assistants and the remuneration they are entitled to are determined separately by each department. Graduate students who are unable to perform their duties satisfactorily or who are subject to a demerit or more severe penalty will lose their right to apply for or continue to receive scholarship payments. Scholarship payments begin in August for current students (September for new students) and end in July of the following year.

1. Scholarships are awarded to new and current students who demonstrate outstanding academic or research performance.

2. The following types of graduate students are entitled to student aid:

1) Students who serve as teaching assistants and who actually perform teaching duties are entitled to student aids pursuant to the NCHU Guidelines for Recruitment and Selection Labor-based Teaching Assistants.

2) Students who serve as part-time, labor-type administrative assistants are entitled to student aids in accordance with Article 8 herein.

* Scholarship and student aid payments begin in August for current students (September for new students) and end in July of the following year. The scholarship and student aid amount may be adjusted by each department, graduate institute, and degree program on a monthly basis.

* Each department, graduate institute, and degree program formulates its own scholarship and student aid review regulations, based on which a committee is established to review matters related to the application for and allocation of scholarship and student aid in the department, graduate institute, or degree program.

2. Elements that constitute campus bullying:

  • Causing physical or emotional damage to the victim

  1. Service introduction: International students who encounter difficulty adjusting to life in Taiwan, emotional distress, or interpersonal relationship issues may apply for counseling online, and the University will arrange counseling sessions with a therapist.
  2. Method of application:

1) All individual psychological counseling service is on an appointment basis. Please login “NCHU single sign on system”->”All Application Entry” → “Psychological Counseling system”to apply for counselling service.

2) Notification of appointment time: The center will match you with a suitable psychologist according to your expectations for consultation and convenient meeting time. After matching you with a suitable psychologist for you, you will be notified by text message and E-mail. Please wait patiently.
3) Number of sessions: In principle, each student may reserve up to two courses of treatment of six 50-minute weekly sessions each per semester.
4) Fees: Unless otherwise stipulated, the Center’s counseling services are provided to University students free of charge.
5) Confidentiality: The Center and its counselors will keep your information strictly confidential, except in circumstances of imminent danger posed to the lives of the student themselves or to others that necessitate a mandatory report according to the law.
6) Safety: For the safety of all parties involved, dangerous objects are prohibited in the counseling space.

1. Introduction:

Each counseling session is led by a professional counselor who guides participants to better understand themselves and their ideas, thoughts, and attitudes towards life through a series of explorative, topic-based activities. If you and your classmates are interested, you can sign up for a session or ask your academic advisor to do it for you.

2. Application procedures:

1) Download the application form from the Health and Counseling Center website.

2) Email the completed form to counsel@nchu.edu.tw.

3) Applications must be submitted at least 20 days in advance. A staff member will call or email you within 3 business days of receiving your application to confirm the details of the appointment.

4) Three days prior to the appointment, the staff member will call you again to confirm the contents of the counseling session and the necessary preparations on your part.

5) After the counseling session, participants are required to fill out a feedback questionnaire.

1. Students who are injured in an accident or hospitalized for treatment of an illness may file a student group insurance claim.

2. Eligibility: students with official NCHU student status or who are currently on a leave of absence are eligible as long as they continue to pay the necessary insurance premiums.

3. Deadline: claims must be submitted within 2 years of the incident.

4. Required documents:

1) An application form and a letter of consent for the insurance company’s inquiries

2) A certificate of diagnosis (original copy preferred, or photocopy with the official seal of the medical institution)

3) Medical bill receipt (original copy preferred, or photocopy with the official seal of the medical institution)

4) A photocopy of your passbook cover (with the account holder, branch number, and account number clearly legible)

5) For claims involving bone fractures, a copy of the X-ray image is required.

  1. Service introduction: International students who encounter difficulty adjusting to life in Taiwan, emotional distress, or interpersonal relationship issues may apply for counseling online, and the University will arrange counseling sessions with a therapist.
  2. Method of application:

1) All individual psychological counseling service is on an appointment basis. Please login “NCHU single sign on system”->”All Application Entry” → “Psychological Counseling system”to apply for counselling service.
※P.S. If you’re facing trouble making online appointment, you may also phone the center with no. 04-22840241 ext. 39 during office hours or visit the center in person to make an appointment instead.
2) Notification of appointment time: The center will match you with a suitable psychologist according to your expectations for consultation and convenient meeting time. After matching you with a suitable psychologist for you, you will be notified by text message and E-mail. Please wait patiently.
3) Number of sessions: In principle, each student may reserve up to two courses of treatment of six 50-minute weekly sessions each per semester.
4) Fees: Unless otherwise stipulated, the Center’s counseling services are provided to University students free of charge.
5) Confidentiality: The Center and its counselors will keep your information strictly confidential, except in circumstances of imminent danger posed to the lives of the student themselves or to others that necessitate a mandatory report according to the law.
6) Safety: For the safety of all parties involved, dangerous objects are prohibited in the counseling space.

1. Introduction:

Each counseling session is led by a professional counselor who guides participants to better understand themselves and their ideas, thoughts, and attitudes towards life through a series of explorative, topic-based activities. If you and your classmates are interested, you can sign up for a session or ask your academic advisor to do it for you.

2. Application procedures:

1) Download the application form from the Health and Counseling Center website.

2) Email the completed form to counsel@nchu.edu.tw.

3) Applications must be submitted at least 20 days in advance. A staff member will call or email you within 3 business days of receiving your application to confirm the details of the appointment.

4) Three days prior to the appointment, the staff member will call you again to confirm the contents of the counseling session and the necessary preparations on your part.

5) After the counseling session, participants are required to fill out a feedback questionnaire.

1. Students who are injured in an accident or hospitalized for treatment of an illness may file a student group insurance claim.

2. Eligibility: students with official NCHU student status or who are currently on a leave of absence are eligible as long as they continue to pay the necessary insurance premiums.

3. Deadline: claims must be submitted within 2 years of the incident.

4. Required documents:

1) An application form and a letter of consent for the insurance company’s inquiries

2) A certificate of diagnosis (original copy preferred, or photocopy with the official seal of the medical institution)

3) Medical bill receipt (original copy preferred, or photocopy with the official seal of the medical institution)

4) A photocopy of your passbook cover (with the account holder, branch number, and account number clearly legible)

5) For claims involving bone fractures, a copy of the X-ray image is required.
